EGYM Wellpass: Revolutionizing Corporate Fitness & Employee Wellness in the USA & Europe

EGYM Wellpass is making significant strides in revolutionizing corporate fitness and employee wellness, particularly with its recent expansion into the USA. This move marks a key milestone in the company’s mission to bridge the healthcare gap by promoting preventative health solutions through the workplace. We spoke with Nicolas Stadtelmeyer, Managing Director of EGYM Wellpass, about the company’s vision, challenges, and ambitious goals for the future…
EGYM Wellpass Takes on the USA: A New Era for Corporate Wellness.
Congratulations on entering the US market with FitReserve. What are your thoughts on the current state of corporate fitness and wellness in America?
Thank you! We’ve been strategically planning our international expansion for some time, and the USA, being the world’s largest corporate fitness market, was a natural next step. This launch aligns perfectly with our global strategy to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions that prioritize prevention over repair.
Why B2B and what is EGYM Wellpass’s strategy for bridging the healthcare gap?
In Germany, the fitness industry generates €5 billion annually, while the costs of lifestyle-related chronic diseases like back problems and diabetes soar to €70 billion! Our core mission is to address a critical gap in the healthcare system. We believe regular strength training can significantly narrow this gap. Partnering with companies allows us to position ourselves as a valuable employee benefit while ensuring all stakeholders win. By partnering with companies through a B2B model, we position EGYM Wellpass as a valuable employee benefit , creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders. We prioritize variety for companies and financial incentives for employees, requiring companies to cover at least 50% of the costs.
Impressive Growth: Expanding Reach in Europe and the USA
What’s your employee reach and growth?
We typically establish two-year contracts with companies and aim for at least 30% employee participation within the first 18 months. I’m incredibly proud of our progress. We’ve become market leaders in Germany and France, with a growing presence in Austria, Belgium, the UK, and now the USA . While we’ve achieved significant milestones, we recognize that we’ve only scratched the surface of our potential. In Germany alone, over 3 million employees have access to our network – but that’s only a fraction of the total workforce.
What’s currently on your radar?
Our immediate priorities vary by country. In Germany , we’re focused on expanding our partner network and diversifying our product range. Across other regions, we’re working on rebranding efforts post-acquisitions to unify all our offerings under the EGYM Wellpass banner. We’re also incredibly excited about EGYM Genius , an innovation designed to optimize user experience and support more effective training. Our strong collaboration with EGYM will undoubtedly lead to even more exciting synergies in the future.
Nationwide Coverage and Continued Expansion: EGYM Wellpass’s Vision for the Future
How’s the fitness industry landscape been post-pandemic? Are there any shifts in trends and growth opportunities that you’ve noticed?
The German fitness industry has rebounded strongly since the pandemic, with new growth models emerging, such as micro-studios in urban areas. We’ve shifted from a defensive position to an offensive one, actively seeking new opportunities for growth and innovation. Our data also reveals that most customers have a regular facility they frequent, with strength training increasingly popular. We’re also witnessing a growing demand for mental health services, recognizing the importance of holistic wellness.
What other regions or countries hold potential for expansion?
With approximately 10,000 facilities in our German network, including major chains like Life Fit Group, Elements, Holmes Place, and PRIME TIME fitness, we’re on a positive trajectory. However, we believe there’s still immense potential for growth. Our vision is for every company to offer an EGYM Wellpass solution to its employees, requiring representation in all regions.
Looking ahead, North America and Europe, particularly the Scandinavian region, hold significant potential for further expansion.
